MEDIS pilot training in Bulgaria

logo medis v1On April 17, 2019, the first F2F session of the pilot training under the MEDIS (Mediterranean Inclusive Schools) project was held in the premises of the Regional Educational Directorate Sofia. The training was attended by Sofia schools teachers of different age, experience and number of migrants in their classes.

Teachers presented their schools, the problems encountered in teaching migrant pupils and minority groups with difficulties in the Bulgarian language, and the ways in which they overcome them. The training materials created by the project were presented. Many teachers have found elements and even whole practices that they consider useful and feasible to apply in their school environment. During the discussion were identified the major problems affecting individual and social inclusion of migrants and their families. Various practical actions and guidelines were shared, which can help to improve integration and inclusion.
During the training the idea, the results up to date and the visions for the future of the project were presented. To the teachers English version of the platform, where they will work with the good practices during their online preparation was presented.


The second F2F session will take place on June 3, 2019 at the same venue. During it detailed examination of the provided practices, comments with colleagues and the management of the respective school, there will be group discussions at the option, suggestions for changes in the existing legal framework in Bulgaria for application in the new school year.
