NEW PROJECT
Social Media channels e.g (Wiki, Facebook, YouTube) are challenging current educational models including VET by

  1. transforming teaching and learning practice (pedagogical innovation),
  2. posing new requirements with respect to the management of processes (organisational innovation), and
  3. devising new tools for teaching and learning (technological innovation). Social Media is transforming the learning panorama by providing unprecedented opportunities for self –direct learning, collaborative learning and lifelong learning.

However there is still a poor understanding of the Learning 2.0 phenomenon and its implications for learning process, learners, teachers and education providers. The solution isn’t in just one product but in the emergence of blended learning scenarios.  Work & VET project brings together the results, products and methodologies of different funded projects in Minerva, Grundtvig, 5th FP &6th FP taking the tested results and implementations experiences for bridging the gap between VET teachers, VET students and the e-Business sector. By transferring this blended result and personalisation of learning paths we transfer in this project the four Pillars for Pedagogical Innovation for teachers, students, getting engagement and motivation from:

  • teacher/learner as consumer (content)
  • teacher/learner as producer (creating),
  • teacher/learner as social being (networking)
  • teacher/learner as team worker (collaborating)

The aims of this project are to affect the VET learning processes by fostering new ways of collaboration among teachers-VET students and the world of work by

  • Building on distributed knowledge
  • Enabling peer group learning
  • Enabling construction and deployment of group of interest and communities of practice
  • Provide a framework for professional interaction
  • Support a decentralised model of VET education and training that a large group of learners can access
  • Create innovative collaborative dynamics allowing learners to generate new learning contexts (and not only content) where reflexive learning transforms the every process of learning

Tangible outcomes

  • 30 teachers trained to provide “social media scaffolding” to learning
  • Work & VET social media network for teachers, students and new tourism services
  • 50 students focused on active part of learning .i.e on the social construction of knowledge based on school curricula hosted   on Social Media channels
  • Development of One Teacher Training Course Model on Social Media based on blended formats
  • 10 new services/products in the tourism sector in cooperation with the stakeholders in the world of work

The members of the consortium are very carefully chosen representing different sectors of VET in order to cover the needed competencies, technical and practical requirements for the successful completion of the designed tasks and outcomes
The impact is achieving new vocational e-skills considering the labour market needs and developing new services for the world of work
