“Developing Expertise and Skills” (DESK) is a project to send / host six volunteers between two established community-based organisations. Dacorum CVS in Herts, UK, and Know and Can Association in Sofia, Bulgaria are active in supporting individuals to improve their confidence and quality of life through training and learning opportunities.
Both partners have substantial experience with working with volunteers of different ages. This application is a natural extension of planned co-operation and offers a really good new element which will contribute to increasing individual contact and ensure an exchange of skills and experience that will enrich our work. This application will also be a tool to transfer civic society knowledge.
The work programme will focus on community development. The volunteers will work alongside paid staff and local volunteers to enrich the work, add an intercultural dimension, offer comparisons with their own country, and learn about operations in the host centres.
We expect that most of the participants will be active in their communities, as volunteers. We will also welcome new participants with no previous volunteering experience but who show a strong motivation to actively participate.
